Another busy day in Oxford Street and whilst everyone else is going shopping I’m going off to see an acoustic session by Cobra Starship, at the MySpace building on New Oxford Street. Before today and even though I’m a London boy, I didn’t know there was a New Oxford Street. I entered the building with my friend, just in time for the start of the set. We were briskly escorted to the waiting room because the band were running a bit late which was alright with us, because MySpace had laid on a massive selection of food and drink. I had a chance to grab a beer and some fruit and it turned out that only me and my friend were there to partake of such a lavish feast. When the band arrived about 5 minutes later, they all came over and said ‘Hi’ to us. Then someone from MySpace approached me to say it would take a few minutes for the band to set up. Five minutes later, we found ourselves in a room packed with 20 people from the music industry and MySpace. The four band members were humorous and cracked a lot of jokes throughout the whole set. Whilst my friend was really excited to see them, I had come with an open mind. Loads of my girlfriends are obsessed with them, but I have to admit that I had barely listened to their music. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the first track they played – it was one of their classic songs, ‘Good girls go bad’ and I started to realise what all the fuss was about. I could clearly see why girls really liked them – they were really cool and their acoustic set was eye-opening and the songs, catchy. Their second song, ‘War’ found even a novice to their music like me, tempted to sing along with them. Their third and final song ‘Guilty Pleasure’ was equally as good and even if they were not exactly my cup of tea, I had discovered that I actually really liked them and respected their talent. Surprisingly, and I have to admit this, it turned out to be one of the best acoustic sets I have seen in a long time.
also the lead singer has the same exact pair of supra’s, as me he’s got style.
